Shahriar Asdollah zadeh; This photo was taken outside Kate Edgar Student Commons Building in the Auckland University Campus. It Belongs to large series (this photo is 1 of 1300 photographs) of Photographs that are like this theme. Artist Statement It has become an unnatural reaction in this day and age, to be de sensitized, when one watches the destruction and catastrophic daily events that take place in the world. The individual subconsciously justifies what they see by simply accepting it as the world they live in. Artists have the ability to shape our thoughts and ideologies. Modern contemporary art seems more to represent art for arts sake. It has become too self voyeuristic and indulgent. Art for arts sake does not serve any purpose but just adds to the endless collection of objects that do not serve any use, but to be admired. The true artists are medical practitioners, doctors, scientists, engineers for they use the creative thought to resolve issues and problems for the better

Sylvie Taylor; Skateboarding Mayhem; My first photo is from the bottom of Queen Street, I think it represents Auckland in the way that its known as a city full of cars and yet when you're not old enough to drive a car, any form of transport is resorted to.
