Auckland Festival of Photography Trust are pleased to announce that the 2017 Festival's key 24 hour day in the life competition for the Auckland region is sponsored by Nikon NZ. Our next 24 hour day in the life competition is scheduled for Saturday 10th June 2017. More news including top Nikon camera prizes, terms and conditions will be available on our website when we announce the full programme after Easter.

2017 Talking Culture - Ingetje Tadros
2017 is the 10th year of the Auckland Festival of Photography's curated Talking Culture series.
We are delighted to have award winning international photojournalist, Ingetje Tadros join the 'Photobook Friday' panel event on 2 June. This Is My Country is a hard cover book of 120 pages with 70 black and white photographs and texts from Aboriginal academics and activists. It is printed in a hardbound edition on 170 gsm paper at Ofset Yapimevi in Istanbul where all of FotoEvidence's high quality books are produced.
Ingetje Tadros's project This is My Country was awarded with the Walkley Award for Excellence in Photojournalism - Feature Photographic Essay- 2015 (the Australian equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize), the Amnesty International Media Awards 2015, photography, Best Feature Photographic Essay at the West Australian Media Awards 2015, the Exposure Award, digital display at The Louvre in Paris 2015 and the 2016 Prix d'Ani at Visa Pour L'Image. More on Ingetje's Award winning series on The Eye Of Photography, Lens Culture. Save the date to hear Ingetje's sole talk and presentation on her work on Monday 5th June too.
Our free 2017 Portfolio Reviews will be offered by 5 great photography experts and practitioners, taking your work through it's paces and providing one on one free advice for the next step for your projects. Be your project photojournalism, fine arts, a photobook, or if you've just got a creative block, come along share your photography with James Dooley, Alexia Foundation, USA; Ingetje Tadros, photojournalist, Australia; Mayumi Suzuki, photographer, Japan; Chris Traill, photographer, FNZIPP, New Zealand and Scott A. Woodward, Nikon Ambassador, Singapore. On public holiday weekend, Monday 5th June at Auckland Art Gallery Auditorium.
The Festival has been offering professional develoment via these annual reviews since 2013 and they have been attended by dozens of New Zealand photographers each year. Book yours after Easter via firstname.lastname@example.org.

2017 'The Spirit of Motion' award
We are so excited to announce this brand new Award for photography in the Auckland Festival of Photography.
Our vehicle partner, Mazda, have launched their 'The Spirit of Motion' Award for the exhibiting photographers in the Auckland Festival of Photography 2017. To enter, you must be in a Festival show this year. Full terms and conditions will be available when the 2017 Festival programme is announced. Opens 18th April and deadline for your entry is 22 May 2017. All participating galleries and venues will be sent the details for sharing with the artists and photographers in the regionwide Festival exhibition programme - Identity, Core and Satellite. Open to New Zealand based exhibiting photographers only.
The winner will receive $2000 cash prize. Sponsored by Mazda.
