Our Festival 'Believe' theme this year explored AI in photography, as part of our public programme we held a panel discussion, debate on this hosted by NZME. A edited video of this, is now available on our You Tube channel.

Leica Oskar Barnack Award shortlist announced

For the 44th time, Leica Camera AG is honouring outstanding finalists with the internationally renowned photography award, following an elaborate selection process. In a first step, 80 international photography experts from around 50 countries submitted their proposals for LOBA 2024, including New Zealand. The excitement about the identities of the winners of the main and the newcomer awards will remain unabated, until 10th October. Once again, the award ceremony will be combined with a big celebration at Leica headquarters in Wetzlar, Germany. Until then, the series of all the finalists on this year’s shortlist will be presented on the LOBA website: www.leica-oskar-barnack-award.com/en/ .

 Asia Pacific Photoforum

2024 Higashikawa International Photo Festival, Japan held their 40th anniversary edition. Our hats off to this Japanese partner Festival in the Asia Pacific Photoforum network. Possibly the longest running photography Festival in Asia? Congratulations to Higashikawa Town of Photography in Hokkaido.

Julia Durkin, MNZM, our founder/CEO was able to join them on her trip to Japan, supporting NZ arts & culture in the Asia Pacific, ahead of the next edition of our Kòwhai Residency this month and to research Tokyo's next T3 Photo Festival and the launch of Tokyo's T3 Photo Fair in October.
