From 10am to 5pm free entry, see amazing photography by Petra Leary, in ‘Embrace the Unknown’, and see the special projection sessions of her aerial photographs, for these 2 days only, powered by Epson NZ and team. We're aiming to re-imagine visual imaging, and to start we have this 'Leaning Towers of Silo Park' image! Come along and lean into our special event!
This year the Festival is excited to launch a new event, at a centrally located hub 'Festival HQ by Harvey Norman' supported by our friends at Harvey Norman. Come along for a new experience at this special event space where visitors can interact with their community of camera artists, professionals, while also explore and learn about the latest technology, cameras, and accessories to take their craft to the next level. Entry is free of charge, on these days there will be giveaways, spot prizes, plus if you are one of the 1st 60 visitors from 1030am you'll get a free coffee (1st come, 1st served, get your token at our foyer inside).

Kōwhai residency 2025 open call
The Kōwhai Residency (c), which is for New Zealand based photographic/visual imaging artists who are keen to take a step internationally and have professional development time in Japan.
This is a photography-based residency in one the world's best cities and is an exclusive cultural innovation for NZ - Japan photographic ties.
We have established two residencies in our programme, Research - around August/Sept and Creator residency around November/December each year, 2023-2025.
The Research residency is open now offers, return economy flight to Tokyo from Auckland, 5 weeks accommodation and a weekly cash stipend and weekly mentor session with our Japanese residency partner, T3 Tokyo Photo Festival founder & director, Ihiro Hayami.
Value of the above is NZ$8500, supporting your practice, concept and research.

It's here for 2025! Photograph your day and night in Auckland between midday on Friday June 6 and midday on Saturday June 7, 24 hours and be in to win a new Fujifilm X half camera, launched on Friday 6th June.

Youth culture and its active participation is a vital ingredient to the success of Auckland Photo Day. For 2025 we are delighted to introduce a new way to take part- Emerging Youth Photographers Wanted!
