2022 : 05 May 2022 Youth Photo Award

Rachel Sung; One Sided; This film photograph was taken in Cornwall Park using CineStill 50D film stock. I walked by this tree and couldn’t help but notice how all the branches are dramatically protruding from one side only. I thought that this created a really unique silhouette of the tree as well as nice shadows on the ground.

Rachel Sung;Picturesque; This film photograph was taken in Mission Bay last year and upon seeing the photograph, I thought it looked too perfect to be real. The saturated colours of the sand and the sea make it seem like it’s painted on, and Rangitoto Island on the horizon just looks visually appealing to me.
Teresa Fan;Nice View In Pain; This was a picture taken on our way up to the Mount Maunganui in Tauranga in a team building event. We had a very long day and nearly everyone lost their strength to walk. This photo was taken when we were too tired and were having a rest, I surprisingly found this good angle to shot.
Teresa Fan;Lovely People; This was also a picture taken in our team building trip to Tauranga. This was the most popular fish & chips shop in town. We spent about half an hour waiting and there were numerous people ordering. But those staff still looked energetic and I toke this shot because I thought it was vivid.
Teresa Fan;Skiing;A fresh starter learning to ski in Queenstown. Put most effort in getting nice pictures.
Teresa Fan;Serendipity;I went to watch sunset with one of my friend quite often. But don't know whether due to coincidence or other unknown factors, every time we could not see a beautiful sunset. But one day we finally did and we were not even hoping to see it on that day. I have been too excited and could not wait for the camera to be fully focused but press
Teresa Fan;Reflection; An interesting photo taken in the museum where I can see my reflection and countless bulbs. In my view, bulbs indicate brightness, brightness to everything. Hope everyone has a bright life or someone in their life is like a bulb that brighten their life :)

Thandi Siso;wasted child;consumerism will be the reason for the waste of youth. waste means to use or expend carelessly, extravagantly, or to no purpose. nature will have no purpose and without nature, the youth's formally organic lives will be wasted. waste forms a double entendre in the photo as waste is also the physical result of consumerism. the consumeristic world he will have to grow up in will interfere with the nature in the background. as nature becomes progressively weaker and more emaciated, the wasting of society and the natural world is inevitable. we are all wasted children...
