Theme

This socially engaged, site-specific photography work invites participants to connect with nature, exploring its role in well-being and sustainability. Inspired by Rudolf Steiner’s “Nature Moods” from the Friedwart Sketches and rooted in the Māori worldview of kaitiakitanga (guardianship), it celebrates sunrise and sunset as moments of mindfulness and renewal. Nature speaks in whispers-the rustle of leaves, dappled light, and birdsong-bringing clarity to a chaotic world.

Participants engage in sensory experiences, using smartphone photography to capture gestures of care for nature. Stories are shared digitally or as instant prints, culminating in a public exhibition that fosters community and ecological stewardship.

Students from Titirangi Rudolf Steiner School, studying the New Zealand Certificate of Steiner Education (NZCSE), will photograph participants at the outdoor event at Tangiwai Reserve, followed by an exhibition of their work at Titirangi Village Bus Stop.

Come along to be part of the photography at the outdoor event at Tangiwai Reserve - 8 June: 7am-9am (Sunrise) & 4pm -6pm (Sunset)

Stop by the exhibition at Titirangi Village Bus Stop from 10-15 June, with the opening on 10 June at 4pm.
