Today South Korea is undergoing a cultural and economic rebirth amid the influences from the west, and increasing nationalism from the presence of an American military base.  There is still a ever present tension and politics with constant nuclear threat with its brother to the north.  Taken in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) between South and North, despite recent easing of relations between North and South, the DMZ remains the world’s most dangerous border.
