Auckland Festival of Photography presents Simone Douglas (Australia) photographer, artist, curator and professor. Simone Douglas lives and works in New York City, USA.
Simone Douglas was trained at the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW and at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, Douglas has held the position of Director MFA Fine Arts for over a decade at Parsons School of Design, The New School.
Douglas’ work has incorporated an intense engagement with the Australian Interior and responsibility to environment. Her renowned site-specific, photographic and installation work has been collected by and exhibited in major institutions in China, USA, U.K.Europe and Australia and New Zealand including Victoria and Albert Museum (London), The Photographers Gallery (London), Art Gallery of NSW (Sydney), National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne) and the Govett Brewster Art Gallery (New Plymouth). Her extensive career has included curating ‘Home’ for the Auckland Festival of Photography in 2016.
