Auckland Festival of Photography presents Talking Culture. Moderated by Lauren Heinz.
Artist Talk: 45 mins + Q&A
German photographer Claudia Heinermann will be joining us to discuss her project Siberian Exiles. The work is a look at six Lithuanian survivors who were deported as children to Siberia in the 1940s, forced to work as labourers and fend for themselves. Heinermann’s work combines portraits and landscapes to tell this remarkable story of survival.
As part of the Festival's Isolation theme Claudia Heinermann's work is on show over the Festival's opening weekend at Ellen Melville Centre (3 - 6 June), the second & closing weekend at Silo 6, Silo Park (11 – 13 June | 18 – 20 June) + Estuary Arts Centre, Orewa (23 June - 4 July)
