Carolin Casey and Natasha Cantwell

When looking at a given scene or photograph, it is habitual to search for and identify the important thing: the focus, the point of interest, the object of the photograph. In this exhibition, Carolin Casey presents a more democratic reading of landscape; by selecting unexpected tracts upon which to focus, she draws attention to perception itself and presents alternative possibilities of seeing and experience. Natasha Cantwell's body of work, titled Rotten Teeth and Halloween Candy follows the transmogrification of dangerous or morbid things into cute, and the nostalgia we ascribe to childhood games based on ideas of violence and destruction.
